CODE BEFORE WORK

You have to start somewhere - 01/01/2022

It has been a long time since I have written for my own enjoyment, or about topics that weren't directly related to my day job at unnamed tech company with really really large number in the market capitalization column. I have made a few false starts on a site like this in the past, but I suffer from a tendency to get bogged down in the tools. What content management system to use? Customizing someone else's WordPress theme that is ungodly slow. Who the audience should be? Do I have to avoid saying negative things about my employer?

And in the end, I write very little, and find myself generally cranky with myself and the  world.

So this will be a slightly new approach. No CMS. No target audience.

Just a space for me to write.

The basic design for this site is based on Fabien Sanglard's wonderfully minimalist site as well as Dan Luu's site.

This does not mean the content will be anywhere near as good as the content on those sites, it won't be. This means this site will look far more like something from the 90's than a modern shiny website. But, it will load quickly and I am able to hit F12 and look at the code and know what the hell is going on without giving myself a headache.
